Should I invest in SEO or SEM?
Depends. Each have their advantages and disadvantages.
Firstly, with SEO, there is no limit to the number of people who can click through to your website. This is a significant advantage over any other form of online advertising. Also, more people tend to trust and click on the non-paid results. And once you rank at the top of the SERPs, you stay there for a long time (as long as you maintain your SEO efforts). The downside to SEO is that it’s a complex and lengthy process, especially for competitive search markets. There are more than 200 factors to the Google ranking algorithm. We do all of them! But, expect 3 to 12 months before seeing results.
Next, with SEM, you can be found on Google instantly. You can also filter, to a degree, who can find you and when. However, you are limited by an overall daily budget and cost per click. The more competitive your search market is, the higher you must bid per click. If you budget $100 per day (thus $3,000 a month) and your typical cost per click is $5, you can then get 20 clicks to your site that day. And then that’s it. You’re done. You don’t show up again until tomorrow. Also, with SEM, you must know how to write good, short text ads. You must also have a high quality website to convert visitors into customers. But it doesn’t require anywhere near what is needed for SEO.
Certainly, if you have the budget, you’d ideally invest in both SEO and SEM … as long as they both produce a positive ROI. Typically, we see SEO is at least three times more cost effective than SEM. However, while SEO may be more profitable, it is a patient person’s game. If you can stick it out, you’ll eventually win big with SEO for the long haul! If you’re not the patient type, SEM might be better for you. It can still be quite profitable and gets you new customers tomorrow.
What is Black Hat SEO? And White Hat SEO?
Since SEO is still new and lucrative, it’s an attractive industry for get-rich business schemes. Therefore, some SEOs employ ‘silver bullet’ tactics to try to trick the Google algorithm. They want easy and fast results instead of adhering to Google guidelines. These are your ‘Black Hat SEOs.’ A common black hat SEO tactic is to buy links from other websites. This can artificially inflate the value and authority of your website in Google’s eyes.
On the other hand, White Hat SEOs adhere to Google Guidelines: build a great website with great content. We then further boost your search engine ranking power by earning links from real, relevant, and authoritative websites.

Do you do SEO consulting?

Do you do eCommerce SEO?
We do eCommerce SEO only on a consulting basis. Unless you have just a few products, we do not write, design, build, manage, or host full-fledged eCommerce sites.
How long does it to rank at the top of Google?
Typically 3 to 12 months. It depends upon how competitive the search market is. It also depends if your site is currently under a Google penalty. Sometimes we can rank first page in just a few weeks. But that’s not typical. Expect at least 3 months before we see significant progress. Competitive search markets can take as long as a year to get to the first page of Google.
What is ‘Local SEO?’
Local SEO is search marketing for a specific business in a specific geographic location. Often the search phrase includes either ‘what‘ or ‘who‘ AND a geographic modifier (e.g., “commercial property for sale colorado springs” or “commercial real estate agent colorado springs).
